Police Now is an independent organisation and we are a separate entry route to direct entry into the police service. Therefore, we cannot comment on the details of direct entry routes into policing.
However, our National Graduate Leadership Programme has a shorter than average training academy, where you'll be led by experienced police officers, with further support provided by a Leadership Development Officer - they will also be on hand throughout your Police Now journey. From last years’ cohort, candidates reported that one of the key motivating factors behind their decision to join was that leadership development opportunities were available throughout the programme.
Upon successfully completing the two-year programme, you will also graduate with a Graduate Diploma in Professional Policing Practice from the University of Huddersfield. This is a Level 6 qualification (degree level). You will complete a series of assignments that will get you to explore, reflect and think about current issues in policing. The assignments will draw on your own experiences as an officer, as well as reviewing relevant academic literature to support your reflections.
We are proud that 80% of our participants continue with their roles in policing after graduating with many pursuing the Fast Track Programme and promotion opportunities, or moving into different areas of policing.
Alternatively, 20% of Police Now graduates have also chosen to move into a variety of different industries outside of policing once they have graduated.
Our participants also present at Impact events to demonstrate the positive impact they have had on the vulnerable communities they work in. We are mission orientated, and our programmes are designed to have a positive impact.
